DVSP Layout
The Telescope Area will be laid out at the Furnace Creek Airport, as pictured below. The ground is asphalt.
Public Access

The public will park in the designated area and walk up to the Telescope Area. The Park Service will be controlling parking and operating a greeting table, where the public can get red plastic bags to cover any white lights they might bring along. The public is free to walk along the walkway, stepping into any telescope site they find interesting, to view, discuss and learn about objects visible in the telescope.
Scopes (Telescope Area)

The Telescope Area sites are lined up along the north and west sides of the area. The pedestrian walkway runs "behind" the sites. Each site is 20 feet wide, and up to 45 feet long. Telescopes are set up adjacent to the walkway, between the walkway and your vehicle. Modest tents or popups can be set up in each space, between your telescope and vehicle. RVs and large pickups with camper shells are not allowed due to their height. Small camping trailers can be used, but your vehicle would have to be parked elsewhere.

NOTE: You CANNOT stake your tent or canopy to the ground through the asphalt.

Tents/canopies can be staked along the runway shoulder to the west of the telescope area.
